My book — How to Be a Geek Goddess (No Starch Press, 2008) — is a primer on technology for women, who are often treated like mere eye candy by the largely male technology industry. I make a lot of jokes at the expense of the guys. The book is dated (though the jokes aren’t) now because technology changes very quickly. Unfortunately, the male domination of tech hasn’t changed as quickly.
I wrote it because most of the tech coverage I wrote for years was targeted — for magazines — at a male reader. And men buy — and think about — machines differently than women.
